English-born, Australian-raised singer-songwriter Daisy Hicks brings you her 3rd single “Upside” from her upcoming new album which will be released later in 2018.
Following on from her previous singles “French Café” and “I Chose You” released earlier this year, the new single to illustrate Daisy’s songwriting and vocal abilities as a truly contemporary soul and jazz artist with commercial appeal. Being the daughter of legendary jazz drummer Tony Hicks (Back Door) and closely related to international recording artist Chris Rea, Daisy’s music pedigree that is undeniable.
“Upside” comes with 3 versions – the Original was produced by Curtis Schwartz and Daisy features Malcolm Maddock (piano), Steve Pearce (bass), Neil Wilkinson (drums) and Justin Quinn (guitar); a fantastic remix by Sir Piers that features Matt Cooper on keyboards and guitarist Franciso Sales (Incognito); and a reggae-infused remix by Ruff Diamond.
Daisy’s previous single “I Chose You” hit #8 in the UK Soul Charts and has had unwavering radio support in the UK and across Europe from Jazz FM, various BBC Regional Stations, Jamm FM, Delite Radio, Solar Radio, Starpoint Radio and many more. Her single “French Café” broke the Top 10 on the Official European Independent Music Chart and was played by hundreds of radio stations around the world. “Upside” is currently #7 on the Euro Indie Music Charts!
After being classically trained and beginning her career in jazz, Daisy decided to deviate from her roots and explore her musical horizons. By the age of 19 Hicks had been signed by Concept Music, where she released her debut album “Mistress”. The album broke in the UK, Japan and European markets with radio play on the likes of KISS, Radio 1 and Capital Radio and great support from some key tastemakers that built a good foundation that had Daisy touring in Australia, Singapore and the Far East. Her previous single “French Café” gained huge support from specialist radio stations in the UK and around the world and peaked at #6 on both the Dance and Cross-Over Chart for Starfleet DJ Pool (going out to over 170K DJs around the world)!
Daisy has also collaborated internationally, writing with Aron Friedman (Backstreet Boys, Take That), Stefan Örn (co-wrote 2011 Eurovision winner, Anders Bagge, Westlife), Jeff Franzel (Josh Groban, Taylor Dayne), Malcolm Maddock (James Brown, Lionel Ritchie); worked with producers Matt Fell (multi-CMAA award winner, Sara Storer, Shane Nicholson), Curtis Schwartz and is currently working with Gil Cang; and has had remixes by Tim Laws (Daryl Hall, Gabrielle), Pete Craigie (Billy Ocean, Seth Lakeman), Michael Grey and Jon Pearn (Met Life), The BodyBangers, Steve Moore, 7th Heaven and Almighty.
Daisy’s distinctive crystal-clear vocals always soar above the music and is played in thousands of shops, shopping malls, bars and airlines and her track “So Much More Than Love” featured on the hit US TV series ‘Pretty Little Liars’.
A majority of Daisy’s new album was recorded on Elton John’s old piano from his house in Beverly Hills that now resides in Curtis Schwartz’ Berry House Studios (Stacey Kent). Daisy has a cool, honey-sweet vocal style that is effortless but has the power to delivers her songs with a depth that makes both timelessly beautiful and addictive to listen to.
