English-born, Australian-raised singer-songwriter Daisy Hicks brings you her 2nd single “I Chose You” from her upcoming album which will be released later in 2018.
Following on from her 1st single “French Café” released in late 2017, the new single illuminates Daisy’s songwriting and vocal abilities as a truly contemporary pop, jazz and soul artist. Being the daughter of legendary jazz drummer Tony Hicks (Back Door) and closely related to international recording artist Chris Rea, Daisy has a music pedigree that is undeniable.
“I Chose You” comes with 4 versions – the Original was produced by Curtis Schwartz and features Malcolm Maddock (piano), Steve Pearce (bass), Neil Wilkinson (drums) and Justin Quinn (guitar); a fantastic remix by Sir Piers that features Matt Cooper on keyboards and guitarist Franciso Sales (Incognito); an infectious remix by Ruff Diamond with heavy influences from early Sade and the fantastic new Radio Edit by Gil Cang (Michael Jackson, Shaun Escoffery).
“I Chose You” is already getting support from Jazz FM, various BBC Regional Stations, Mi Soul, Jamm FM (Netherlands) Delite Radio, Solar Radio and many more from around the world. The single has appeared on the UK Soul Charts numerous times and has topped many of the supporting radio stations Top 10 lists.
After being classically trained and beginning her career in jazz, Daisy decided to deviate from her roots and expand her musical horizons. By the age of 19, Hicks was signed by Concept Music, where she released her debut album “Mistress”. The album broke in the UK, Japan and European markets with radio play on the likes of KISS, Radio 1 and Capitol Radio and great support from some key tastemakers that built a good foundation that had Daisy touring in Australia, Singapore and the Far East. Her previous single “French Café” gained huge support from specialist radio stations in the UK and around the world, is currently sitting at #5 on the Official European Independent Music Chart and peaked at #6 on both the Dance and Cross-Over Chart on Starfleet DJ Pool (going out to over 170K DJs around the world)! In the last year, Daisy’s videos have had over 7.5 million views on Facebook with an exception Like/Share ratio of 35%+ which is unheard of in the music industry.
Daisy has also collaborated internationally, writing with Aron Friedman (Backstreet Boys, Take That), Stefan Örn (co-wrote 2011 Eurovision winner, Anders Bagge, Westlife), Jeff Franzel (Josh Groban, Taylor Dayne), Malcolm Maddock (James Brown, Lionel Ritchie); worked with producers Matt Fell (multi-CMAA award winner, Sara Storer, Shane Nicholson) and Curtis Schwartz; and has had remixes by Tim Laws (Daryl Hall, Gabrielle, Lighthouse Family), Pete Craigie (Billy Ocean, Seth Lakeman), Michael Grey and Jon Pearn (Met Life), The BodyBangers, Steve Moore, 7th Heaven, Almighty and now Gil Cang (Shaun Escoffery) to name a few.
Daisy’s distinctive crystal-clear vocals always soar above the music and is played in thousands of shops, shopping malls, bars and airlines and her track “So Much More Than Love” featured on the hit US TV series ‘Pretty Little Liars’.
A majority of Daisy’s new album has been recorded on Elton John’s old piano from his house in Beverly Hills that now resides in Curtis Schwartz’ Berry House Studios (Stacey Kent). Daisy has a cool, honey-sweet vocal style that is effortless but has the power to deliver her songs with a depth that makes them both timelessly beautiful and addictive to listen to.
